About Regina
Regina comes from a military family and joined in the tradition of public service set by her father, a retired Army Lt. Colonel, by joining the United States Coast Guard after graduating from Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Virginia. While in the Coast Guard she served in various duty stations in Portsmouth, VA, Petaluma, CA and Boston, MA.
After completing 10 years of service, Regina left the military and started her civilian career at Raytheon Company in Lexington, MA as an Administrative Assistant for a few years and eventually moved into the Benefits Arena. It was then she decided to return to school and started at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA where she graduated with an Associates Degree in Business. Upon graduation, she transferred to Merrimack College where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management in 1993, all the while working full time. She was later transferred to Raytheon’s Semiconductor Division in Andover, MA where she was promoted to Human Resources Generalist.
She then resigned from Raytheon to move into the Contract Recruiting business and has recruited for various companies in the high tech industry such as Applied Material, NEXX Systems, and Teradyne in North Reading.
Regina's political career began in 2008 when she started as a volunteer for Senator John McCain’s Presidential Campaign. She has since been active in the New Hampshire Republican Party and worked diligently to get Republicans elected in Rockingham County and throughout New Hampshire. She is a graduate of the 2009 Vesta Roy Leadership Series and was the recipient of the Norris Cotton Award from the Rockingham County Republican Committee in 2010. In 2012, Regina was elected, by her County peers, as the Chairman of the Rockingham Republican Committee.
Going from an activist to an elected official, Regina served as a New Hampshire State Representative representing Rockingham 13, which consists of Hampstead and Kingston, and served as a member of the Election Law Committee from 2010 to 2014.
Since 2015, Regina has represented District 19 (Derry, Hampstead and Windham) as their voice in the New Hampshire Senate. Regina is currently the Chair of the Senate Health and Human Services committee and serves on the influential Senate Finance committee and the Energy and Natural Resources committee.
Regina will always be interested in helping her fellow service men and women and participates in Soldiers' Angels and attends Pease Greeters as often as possible to greet our men and women who are returning from and deploying overseas. Regina is a member of Independent Human Resource Consultants Association where she served as the Director of Marketing and a Past President. She was also a member of Poodle Rescue of New England and served as a foster home for abandoned poodles until she recently adopted her seventh foster.
Regina resides in Hampstead with her husband, Mark Skelly, and their poodle. They have two adult children, Rob and Erika, and a son in-law, Brian O’Shaughnessy, as well as a beautiful granddaughter, Penelope.
